WELCOME!!! BAD
MEDICINE LAKE AREA ASSOCIATION MEETINGS
You are welcome to
join the board members of the BMLAA which meets from April thru October, on the
4th Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Forest Township hall. Board members
are lake residents elected at the annual meeting for a 3 year term. The meetings
are open all.
An overview of topics
discussed and acted upon during the April and May meetings:

A new BMLAA
brochure has been produced and soon will be sent to lake residents.

The
Association is attempting to update mailing addresses of all lake residents.

The board
unanimously agreed to publish a newsletter to better communicate with Bad
Medicine residents. It has been several years since a newsletter was
published. There will be one newsletter this summer with plans to publish two
each summer starting next year. Rose Andersen will steer this committee.

Jarda
Solc, Bad Medicine resident and professional hydrologist, presented an in
depth hydrology study of the Bad Medicine Lake and surrounding area. He has
consented to present this report at the BMLAA meeting on June 30th.

Chuck and
Gloria Church have agreed to act as welcome wagon hosts to new lake residents
on behalf of the BMLAA. Please contact them if you are aware of a new
resident.

Maintenance
of the rest area / boat launch is no longer provided by the Minnesota
Department of Transportation. Services are now more limited and the
responsibility of the Area Trails and Waterways. Dick Kimbel, a representative
of the ATW spoke to us and answered questions regarding the level of
maintenance. Residents are encouraged to also monitor the area and report any
concerns to the board.

BMLAA
annual meeting will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30th at
Forest Township Hall. Come early for coffee / treats and a chance to chat with
your lake neighbors.

discussed: COLA report, Becker County ATV study, septic system standards,
Waubun School District monitoring, and the Bad Medicine Lake Foundation.
